Are you unhappy or embarrassed by your smile? Veneers might just be your ideal solution.
There are a variety of options for dental veneers depending on your needs, the type of look you want, your budget, and more. In our latest blog article we will explain veneers and how they could work for you.
What are veneers?
Veneers are a thin shell of either tooth-coloured porcelain or glass/plastic that is applied over the surface of your teeth that can be a suitable option for you if you have teeth with gaps, that are discoloured or stained, chipped, broken, crooked, crowded-in, badly-aligned or oddly shaped.
What are your options?
When you get veneers, you usually have two options for materials, porcelain or composite.
Types of dental veneers
Porcelain veneers:
Porcelain veneers are thin layers of custom handmade porcelain that are bonded to the facial surface of the tooth. They are natural, durable and strong. Veneers appear and feel just like your teeth, with a translucency that mimics the true colours of natural teeth.
Composite veneers:
Cosmetic composite veneers can often be a fantastic affordable alternative to Porcelain Veneers, providing a more affordable alternative. Cosmetic composite resin veneers can be used in low stress situations and where minimal adjustments are required such as to correct minor staining, chipping or even crowding or crossed over teeth.
The Benefits of Veneers
They look realistic – Veneers are made to fit you and your smile. They will match your existing smile and enhance it. You can do a minimal change or you can go for a big makeover. It’s up to you.
Durability – While you need to maintain them and replace them after a while, they can last up to fifteen years! This means you don’t have to change them constantly, unlike some other products.
The main benefit of veneers – We can design your smile with veneers!
When you first come in for your appointment with Dr Laura Smit, she will do a comprehensive examination of your mouth including your teeth, gums and smile to identify and discuss your options so you can have the best smile. We’ll scan your mouth and design a smile with you using the latest in 3D technology. Once your smile design is confirmed and rendered, you can come back and test drive your smile!
We’ll take photos and overlay your new smile, so you can be sure that it’s the right smile for you!
